Two days ago my touchpad started acting erratically. It's fine for a few minutes after I turn on the computer, a Latitude D630, but the more time that passes the worse it gets. Slow reaction time, inconsistent sensitivity. Yesterday the blue pointing stick started behaving the same way. I have been using a USB mouse in the meantime, which seemed to work, but this morning I went for a walk and when I came back something new was wrong: nothing hapepns when I click on the the minimized toolbar program buttons.

Is this a virus? Is my computer slowly dying a hardware death?

Oh one more thing. I installed Ubuntu 7.10 a month ago. A day after this problem started happening I upgraded to 8.04. I am also running XP Home.

More information: I have discovered that it only happens when the computer is running on battery power. Any help?

Sounds like a software or driver problem...

You might want to reinstall the driver, or format and reinstall everything.

And if it happenned to be a hardware problem (which I don't think so), then I guess your D630 is still under warranty.
