Does the D630 have different screen manufacturers (like Lenovo)? If so, what type of screen is this:
    Thanks.

I believe that all Dell 14.1" WXGA+ screens are currently made by Seiko Epson.

    No, it's AU Optronics.

    Cobalic, try this:

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Monitors > Plug and Play Monitor > Properties > Details

Under "Device Instance Id" it should say something like:

    DISPLAY\SEC4258\4&323C6B04&0&00000400&00&02

I believe the "SEC" (this is my Inspiron 1150) refers to the manufacturer... probably Seiko Epson in this case?
If you have an AU Optronics screen, I think you'll see AUO there.

I'd love to, but my D630 hasn't come yet. It's "in process" - but I have the parts list. Was just wondering if they had two screens (like the LG vs. Samsung in T61s) and if I should do anything about it.

But no, they just had to make things simple and only use one screen in D630's. I hate Dell :D

LOL... Sorry, I thought you had it in front of you.

Does anyone really know this for sure? How?

They have this roulette thing going when they attach your screen. The workers are all blindfolded and the screens are identical in appearance and function. There is no way to tell which one you have.

Well, that's not a bad start. Although if I flip a coin 3 times, there's a 25% chance that I'll get the same result all 3 times.

Also, even if they are all AUO right now, they might decide to buy a batch of panels from someone else at any time.
