I already have a 6 cell battery that came with the laptop, but i wanted longer battery life. I dont have a lot of money to spend, so which would you recomend, buying the 9 cell, and just using the 6 cell if i run out of battery, or buy a media bay battery?

I went back and forth w/ mine when I ordered it regarding battery selection. I decided on the 6-cell standard + 4-cell media and couldn't be happier. I get 7-8 hours of runtime, sometimes more if I dim the screen all the way down. It's a little heavier as a result, but then again, I don't have the 9-cell sticking out. I don't think I'd like that. Only drawback is I have to swap in the optical drive if I need it, but for me, that's very seldom.

Are you sure your media bay battery is a 4 cell? I know they offer a 6 cell.

You're right, my mistake. I was remembering that the media battery I got was a lower capacity than the main battery, so I just made the assumption that it was a 4-cell since the main was 6 (bad assumption). It's a slightly lower WHr rating, 48 vs 56 in the main 6 cell...but correct, both are 6 cell.

    Sorry about that.

I guess my point was just that if dropping the optical drive is OK w/ the OP, then having the main+media battery running is slightly more capacity than just the 9 (assuming they are only going to buy one battery at this point).

Of course, you could spend for the 9 and the media bay 6 and go for 12-15 hours probably.
