About 2 months ago I removed Vista business and put XP Pro on(slip streamed the controller driver etc with N'Lite). All went fine aside from having to find a fix for the Toshiba bluetooth stack issue which is now resolved.

The problem I think I have had since then, but never noticed untill I started ripping cds is that the audio crackles/pops sometimes. 99% sure it is not the speakers bad, because it does not do it all the time, and sometime with Winamp, but not when watching DVD's using (DVD Fab, I think-spontaniously forgot which software I use-lol), and vice-versa with the programs. The problem seems to be very sporadic. I am currently using bios A07, was using A06, and the one before that all with same issues. Iv'e updated all the drivers I could from Dell(or pertain to XP software). I thought it was fine after the last driver update yesterday, but only last untill I rebooted the computer today and same issue no matter what program I run. I had googled/Dell forums, and have found some people having problems with the sygmatel drivers supplied by dell, but weren't necessarily a problem directly for the D630. Nor did I find any answers for other systems that I could even try. I really don't think it is a blown speaker either.

Anyone else with thoughts, or even better fixes?

    Thanks.

after reading aspy's m1210 thread and digging further in the dell forums, I'll try and turn off enhancements.

My music and video playback is just fine, but I just installed the game "sins of a solar empire" on it, and the audio pops stutters and crackles like nobodys buisiness. I'm running vista HP and the driver on dells site is the same one from vistas release, the audio is flawless on my desktop. Hope I can figure something out soon. I have the audigy software, came with the laptop (outlet) but all enhancements are disabled in it, the only options I have from sigmatel are the jack selections.

I wasn't able to find the enhancements option. Problem is still there, so I'll keep looking.
