I have recenly received my D630 on Vista, which I am very happy with overall. However, it has one niggling problem that I can't work out.

The D630 has an intergrated wireles card (not N) that works well. However from time to time, completely randomly, the wireless connection just drops (can't browse etc.). Initially i thought the connection had dropped out (yellow triangle over the wireless icon in system tray), and attempted to re-connect to my WAP - this wasn't possible however - indeed the Network and SHaring Center wouldn;t actually load - continual "egg timer". I thought this was a one off so i rebooted and wireless came back on no problem.

The next time it did the same thing, I looked a little closer and it turns out that the "Wifi" LED on my D630 turns itself off when this dropping connection occurs which seems very odd. The only way I can get the wireless connection back is to reboot as the Network and Sharing Center in Vista won't load up (continual "egg-timer" type icon) and I can't access any of the card's settings.

I thought it may be a Vista issue, but I'm wondering if it may be hardware related? Anyone else had this kind of problem? I have looked in the Device settings for the card and the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is NOT selected. The problem occurs when running battery and on mains power.

    Can anyne help?

Don't think my post will be much help, but I have a D630 running XP and haven't had any problems with my wireless. It's always worked flawlessly, both on battery and ac power. I've had my laptop since July. I hope you can get your problem sorted.

    Good luck--
    dordale :)

I had this same problem also when I received my D630 with Windows Vista past week. You have to download the latest drivers for you wlan from the Dell website. When I did it, the problem was solved.

I know this is an old thread, but anyone wanting to know whether this has cured it, well, the answer is yes!

Not had one single random drop out since I updated the Wireless card driver.

Thanks for the suggestion to do so.
