Does D630 have 2 slots to fit both wan card and robson card in? (I forgot what the slots are called, but I believe WWAN, WAN and the TurboMem all use the same type of slot, correct?)

Also, is the WAN card that comes built in replaceable with a N-compatible one when I decide to get one later on? Or is it irreplaceable like the GPU?

I always thought there was one slot for either the WAN radio (modile broadband via mobile service provider) or FCM, but now that you ask I am unsure myself. If you're talking about the WLAN, then yes it can accomodate both the Flash module and WLAN radio together.

Again, if you're talking "N compatibility", I will assume you're talking about the WLAN. The card is replaceable, and I understand the D630 is even pre-wired with the third antenna.

Someone else's picture, but notice the plastic-capped grey wire that's not connected.

Yea, I meant WLAN, not WWAN. Sorry.

So I can just get the G mini-card now and switch to a A/B/G/N later eh...

And I got the idea of WWAN, WLAN and TurboMem using the same slots because when configuring a laptop on Lenovo, they say that if you add the TurboMem, you cannot add WWAN, and WLAN is always installed.

So at least I think WWAN and TM are fighting for the same (2nd) slot.

    Correct on all assumptions.

You can get the G card now, and the a/b/g/n ard later. HOWEVER, call Dell to be sure - you just never know when a manufacturer decides to change it's manufacturing policies, ie pre-wiring for an option you currently don't have. Just because it's been manufactured as such in the past doesn't mean it will be manufactured that way in the future.

WWAN and the FCM "share" a slot, while the WLAN has it's own, although all are still removable. I think the slot is called PCI, but i'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime it if I am wrong.

    Good luck.
