I have a relatively new D630 with Vista Premium and it is not allowing me to run Vista Aero. It was my understanding the the specs of my laptop would allow it. I have a T7300, 2gb RAM, 120gb (7200) HD, x3100 system. My windows performance index is as follows:
    Processor - 4.9
    Memory (RAM) - 4.8
    Graphics - 1.9
    Gaming Graphics - 1.0
    Primary Hard Disk - 5.2

Do I need to update a driver? Why am I not able to run Aero with my specs?

You did not state your graphics card. Aero has requirements on what kind of graphics card is capable of running the Aero interface, considering you have a score of 1.9 I'm guessing you have an intel integrated card (either GMA950 or X3100).

It seems that you don't have a graphics driver installed. Does your D630 have dedicated nVidia GPU or integrated Intel one?

I have the integrated video card which is running areo with Vista 64 Ultimate. Does a real nice job. I downloaded all of my drivers from Dell when I did my clean build.

I have the 965 chip (same as the x3100?). I thought that I had downloaded my drivers for the card from dell as well. Do my performance index numbers seem off? when I go to my "Display Settings" it says "Generic PnP Monitor on Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family"...what do I need to do?

Redownload your graphics card driver from Intel's website, I think it isn't installed properly so it won't run Aero.

you want to DL drivers from your notebook maker's website, not intel's. in this case, the drivers from Dell's site would be superior to the ones on intel's site.
