I may purchase this notebook in the future and was wondering have the screen improved from the time many have complaint about the dullness and possibly graininess?
I also have the e1505 which have XP Pro/Vista Buisness and was wondering since the D620 is a dell computer, can I swap OS between the two computers? As long as I am not using the same key/OS on either notebook, right?

I've ordered a D620 (should be here in a couple of days) and have read that the screens have been sorted. Also read that they've been sorted on the dell forums too.
I'll post back regarding the screen when it arrives next week. -
Screen is absolutely fine - get this notebook!

I heard the Dell Latitude D620 screen has a washed out look to it. Do you think the colors look faded?
-
No not at all - I think the screen looks fantastic. There is a slight bit of light leakage at the bottom of the screen but this is only noticeable when the screen is completely black (like when windows is starting).
I've compared the screen to another dell, an HP (laptop and monitor) and a MB - it looks just as bright and colourful. Just got to remember that it's a matte screen and not a glossy. -
I bought my D620 last year and I had to return it.
The screen is really wash out! It is so hard to see. I have to return it 45 days later. My eyes are hurting so bad.
Dell forum had the discussion on this screen and the threads are so long. Dell finally shut it and said the problem had been fix.
Thats all I know so far until now. So any good news?
I like to see how the D630 is before I get it again. -
I've got a D620 with the WXGA+ screen, and it's definitely not up to my expectations. I'm seriously considering returning it and going up to the D820.
I noticed several problems with the screen right out of the box. First, the backlight leakage is annoying, especially since I like to have a black desktop. The bottom 1/4 to 1/3 of the screen always looks slightly washed out.
Second, the screen definitely looks grainy. I've seen several images that seemed to be of poor quality on my D620, yet when I open up the same files on my desktop monitor, they look great. Again, it's not unusable, but if you do any image editing, I'd pick another model.
Third, the screen has a noticeable shimmer to it when I view some images. The background image at mini-itx.com is an example. Instead of a static background, it looks like the background is flashing rapidly.
I downloaded new drivers, messed around with color settings and even had my screen replaced under warranty, but to no avail.
I've got the latest version of the WXGA+ screen that Dell has available, but it's not nearly as good as the screens on past Latitudes that I've used. From what I understand, the revised WXGA screens are excellent, but I haven't seen any with my own eyes. -

I think Dell will fix the problem with the Dell Latitude D630.
-
They fixed the problem a few months ago. So all new D620's should have a significant better screen.
Still no topquality though. -
One thing that *might* be an issue here is when I got my system the screen wasn't set to the correct resolution (1280x768 vs 1440x900).
Colors weren't so terrible but it was (obviously) grainy. I can't recall if our IT group reimaged the drive and did not set that or if it was shipped that way. I ended up nuking the OS anyway for other reasons.
Setting the correct resolution definitely made it look a lot better, although not quite as good as the one on the HP nc8430 (less light leakage but poorer colors). -

I got one at work in Sept. It is a piece of garbage. It has a privacy filter preinstalled... not even the user can see it. Washed out... grainy. Worst screen I've ever, EVER seen in a notebook. It would literally be the last notebook I would consider. On the up side though... it is small, though not that light in weight... but it has monster run time with the high capacity battery.
