I just recently came across a 30% epp coupon saving me quite a bit but I cant decide between the d620 and d820. Each has its pros and cons but I cant make a decision between the two.

This laptop will be used for college. Battery life is very important to me as well as it cant be to bulky. I dont plan on moving the laptop around consistently but still want the capability to when I want at ease. My main concern with the D620 is the 14.1 inch screen being to small and with the D820 is it being to be bulky. Im in a deadlock between the 2 and the price difference is not that considerable

I need to buy this by midnight so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have seen some people choose a smaller screen and opt for a large monitor to hook up in their home; you get portability with the option for viewing a large screen.

The issue comes with requiring more real estate for photo editing. If you need that real - estate, then the D820 will be your best bet. It also has more memory for your VRAM.

I didn't want a 15.4" to lug around. Especially on a plane - 14.1" is the largest size that is still comfortable in coach. If always fly business class, you can go up to 17"....

I am extremely happier with the smaller screen / portability (I gave my 15.4" WUXGA notebook to my 5 year old). I preferred the WXGA+ 1440x990; however, and the text is just the right size consider what I was accustomed to viewing.

Go to a local computer retail store and see a 14" and a 15.4" widescreen in person. The D820 as noted can come with a higher screen resolution.

For daily college life, go for the 14"- i.e. the D620. The bigger screen is nicer of course, but dramatically more burden to carry around and has more drawbacks in use within college environment.

Personally i dont think the extra bulk of the 820 will be worth the extra screen, i'd go the 620 + external monitor when required

Yea I was stuck with the same decision, obviously I went with the smaller screen and greater portablitly. I've been on one flight with my d620 since I got it and 14.1 inches just fits in economy.

The screen problems everyone on the Dell forum is kinda overblown. I wasn't really expecting too much from the LCD in the first place. Also it may be that only mine is fine; I got a screen from Quanta instead of LG or Samsung. If you really need a better screen just get an external for home use.

I agree with z3rogx...I mean the screen's a laptop screen....perhaps they will fix it, but it's not like TERRIBLE! I've had my D620 for about 8 days, I'm in college, work part time and lug the computer around all day long and it's a great portable! The people here were great and finalizing my selection...for the price, I don't think you can get a better computer that's not a Thinkpad...

i wanted a M1210, but got a E1505 instead, and with the money i saved i bought a 2007WFP (20.1" widescreen LCD) for $367. i wouldnt mind at all if my laptop had a smaller screen because the second monitor works great.

just my 2 cents about monitor size.
