Guys, I understand the speaker and all is not going to produce good sound etc. But does the D620 latitude have good quality sound card or integrated hardware that can handle burning music CDs and produce descent quality sound if external speakers are attached?

As far as being able to burn music. Music stored on CD's are 0's and 1's ... so the soundcard has very little to do with the actual encoding and/or subsequent sound quality.

As far as speakers, I'm sure a nice pair of powered external speakers would sound fine, but someone with this machine could better answer that.

Also, I wouldn't let one post about bad screen quality discourage you.

The screen on mine is just fine - so don't let hearsay discourage you.

As others have said, the built in sound doesn't have anything to do with burning music. For listening, while the one speaker is actually surprisingly good, I'd get a decent set of external speakers or headphones. That pretty much goes for any notebook, though, especially business models...so it's not that much of a stand-out issue.
