Since I would have written in with complaints if there had been problems, I thought I'd write in and give kudos to Dell for the great laptop I received yesterday.

I bought a scratch & dent D620 from the outlet for $919 ($1003 with tax and handling, though shipping was free) with the following specs:
    XP Pro
    Core Duo T2400
    1 GB (533, 2 sticks)
    100 GB (5400rpm)
    256MB NVIDIA 110M
    DVD/RW
    Intel 3945 wireless card
    60-cell battery
14.1 inch WXGA+ screen (I actually was looking for a non-glossy screen, so this was perfect)
    90W power adaptor
All the program/resource CDs, including XP Pro
And very important to me since in a few months I'll be going overseas for the next several years, the 3-year next business day, on-site warranty

I ordered late Tuesday night, and it arrived Friday afternoon, even though I never got an email giving me a tracking number.

When I configured a new one on the Dell Business site the other day, it came to about $1340 (before tax), and that was after the $400 off $1699 or more configuration. So it was a real moneysaver for me.

I've been using it for several hours, and I still can't find where the scratch & dent is. As far as I can tell, it's a brand new computer. And everything is working great so far. Just what I needed for my work: a fast, sturdy, and light (noticeably lighter than the Toshiba Satellite it's replacing) laptop. And it doesn't hurt that it's a handsome machine.

So a great buying experience. No problems at all so far; but if there is, I have the peace of mind that comes with the warranty. I'm a very pleased customer. I'd highly recommend going the outlet route.
