Hey i just got a new D620 a week ago. Just a couple hours ago i opened it and brought it out of standby from earlier this afternoon and the speakers wouldn't work. I tried music off winamp, wmp, a dvd and youtube and nothing works. When i connected it to a pair of headphones, sound goes through, but when i disconnect it again, no sound comes out of the speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd first try a restart and see if that does anything to help. If not, I'd contact Dell for a replacement or repair for the machine.

It's kind of bad when you lose the only speaker that the notebook has.

    That is a nuisance.

I am sure that they can rectify the situation for you.

see if it works after a restart,if not my best guess would be a bad connection between the speaker and the audio header, if it works fine after a restart, its more than likely software related

Also check your volume controls and make sure that one of the bars isn't all the way down.

Oh never mind... I got it to work. Apparently theres a mute option seperate of the volume buttons next to the power switch. Thats the oddest thing in the world, cuz i didn't even know that existed, much less how i clicked it.
