Hey guys and gals... I just purchased a D610 with 512 DDR2 400MHz installed in 2 Dimms. My question is, if I want to install down the line, what type of ram do I get? My guess is that I'm looking at 240 pin, PC2-3200 type? Also, do you guys know how many slots I have available? I'm I maxed out at this point?

    Thanks!

Second, completely off topic question: Do the D610's all come with Sonoma chipsets, or only the 2GHz sets?

Your D610 has 2 slots (both at present filled), and a maximum ram of 2048mb. You would have to remove either of the present 256meg modules and replace with a bigger module to increase total ram. They are 200-pin dimms and you can use either 400Mhz DDR2 PC2-3200 (3.2G/s max throughput) or 533Mhz DD2 PC2-4000 (4.0G/s max throughput). Go to www.crucial.com and follow prompts for your system to find out more. The result of the 2 ram modules will be restricted to the potential maximum speed of the slower module, if there is one 3200 and one 4000. Go for 2 of the same speed. In reply to your question re processor speed, the D610 uses the Sonoma mobile chipset, in speeds of 1.6Ghz (the 730), 1.86Ghz (the 750) or 2.0Ghz (the 760).

Takashi: sorry, can't help you there. However I have heard only good of Crucial. I even bought from them for delivery here in Australia, and was very happy with their prices and service. I don't think you are going to go wrong with them. From online discussions I have witnessed over the years their ram is of very high quality and competitively priced. Good luck.[ :)]

and btw, the crucial link is great, very helpful in finding compatible ram! without doing research on my own, are those prices competitive?
