    Very strange problem.
    Start computer
start up screen bar moves 1/4 way then does a fast beep until I hit enter on the laptop keyboard.
Goes to boot screen ( XP and Win2000) laptop keyboard does not react.
USB keyboard does work at this point.

After full start up the laptop keyboard does not work. The pointing device and touchpad are fine.

If I run my fingers accross several keys in the # row quickly it beeps=66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666
The above is a sample or the Windows internet explore help file starts.

I removed the keyboard and inspected the contacts on the ribbon to the motherboard, looks fine.
This Laptop was used a few months and then put in storage for three years.
So it has had light usage and out of warranty.
    Flashed the Bios
device manager says everything is working well
    Diagnostics says everything is functioning.
Do I have some wierd keyboard lock out?
