    Hi all,

    I work as a journalist and at the moment I am looking a now notebook. I got some offers from Dell. Which one would be the best choice for me?

    I will use my notebook to write articles, edit images as well as will need s-video (notebook/TV).

    D520:

    My inclination would be the D531, I really like the TrueLife option. If you do Vista, definitely go with 2GB RAM.

    Yea, even with a dedicated card x1300, vista is kinda sluggish wiht 1gb ram, on the ram meter thing for sidebar it was saying i was constantly at 75-80% ram usage when i had nothing open!

    I also agree with above posters. Even though D520 has the better processor, for your tasks that really doesn't give you an edge over AMD X2. Therefore considering other aspects : lower price, slightly better VGA adapter, truelife screen and widescreen aspect ratio (standard screen is thing of the past now ;) ) I guess D531 is the better choice.
