I'm looking for a small laptop to take around campus and classes. I have two choices and I don't know what to get. Both configs are about the same price.

    D430 (New)
    Intel Core2 Duo Processor ULV U7600 (1.20GHz, 533Mhz)
    1.5GB, DDR2 SDRAM, (1GB Integrated) 2 DIMMs
IntelĀ® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950
    80GB Hard Drive, 8MM, 4200RPM
    9 Cell Primary Battery

    or

    M1330 (Dell Outlet)
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 (2MB cache/1.8GHz/800Mhz FSB)
    2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs)
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
120 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
    9 Cell Primary Battery

    Few Questions:
    1) What is the expected battery life from each system?
    2) With the D430 is there anyway I could play simple games (maybe something like Peggle Extreme (Steam, lol, just an example))

I would suggest going to google and search for reviews on both. If I am not mistaken then you will find reviews done on this website. From there it should talk about battery life.

The graphics on the d430 is pretty bad. I have that on a lappy I am getting rid of and it played some games but they were always choppy. Bad fps.

The 1330 is by far the best of these 2 machines in my opinion.

you are in luck as I have owned both and have used both at school. they are both portable enough for the job, but you will get an extra hour of battery life out of the d430, probably around the 4:30 mark for taking notes, while you will only get 3:30 or 3:45 hours max from the m1330. However, the d430 is useless for games, even the most basic. I might venture to say the latitude series is in general better built as they are intended for businesses, but I have yet to see any dell laptop fall to bits, meanwhile I have seen an hp's hinge self-destruct and a toshiba's screen frame.chassis fall to pieces. so it's rly up to what you want: battery life, or decent gaming performance and a drop dead gorgeous laptop that will get some ohhhs and ahhhhhs.

I got the D430 and I bought it refurbished. It it just like new. Got it a great deal! See my thread "D430 Owners Lounge" for further info.

I use it for surfing only. Type a few emails here and there, Remote Desktop home and not much else.

I get about 2:30 hrs at full bright screen.

I keep it defrag and clean up once a month.

I carry it around everyday and dont feel it.

    I love it!

Oh, you can go to any Best Buy store now and see the 1330.

More portable, more durable, matte screen: D430
Better performance, more stylish, glossy screen: M1330
