The Dell Latitude D420 was released more than two weeks ago. Has anyone received a D420? If you ordered, what is the estimated ship date? I am eagerly waiting for first impressions.

From what I understand, the first orders have just started shipping this week. We have one en route and should have thoughts next week.

Thank you for the link, dmozk, I enjoyed the video a lot. I agree with you on the 9 cell battery, it destroys the sleek look of the D420. If necessary, I would probably carry a second 6 cell battery instead.

Near the beginning of the video the Dell guy compares the D420 to an older "ultraportable" machine. Can anyone identify that other notebook?

I initially ordered this with the 30% off EPP coupon, but cancelled to get an M1210. I thought it was a better deal plus, the D420 wasn't gonna ship till July 31. I thought that was aweful. Anyway, I hope it gets good reviews. I wouldn't mind having a super light notebook for notetaking and just general great portability.

Edit: Ugh.. that video just made me want it more. It's giving me thoughts of selling the M1210 =(!

I think the older notebook looks like the D410 which he said was his so I'm thinking its not a HP. Notice he never turns it on for the long boot time from the 4200RPM drive.

Yes, that is odd, but Dell has a similar video for the M1210 and the presenter also never turns it on ( http://www.youtube.com/v/XpnhzHcj29o).
