I would like to know how can I choose for example HDD with 5400rpm by dell customizing. There are only possibilities like HDD 40GB,60GB ... but nowhere I see if 40GB HDD or 60GB HDD is 4200rpm or 5400rpm. And same thing with RAM if 400MHZ or 533MHz.I have to say that i tried it via small bussines on dell web. Is there something what I didn't remark? Thanks for your answers...[ ;)]

there have been numerous discussions regarding HD know one is certain I called and they told me every drive besides the 60G 7200rpm drive was a 5400rpm, but others have been told that all the others were 4200rpm.

not sure how you would go about making sure you got a 5400 instead of a 4200. try placing your order by phone and see what they say when you call and insist on a 5400.

gargoyle is correct, u should call and speak to a sales rep... it's the best avenue to get what you want. you may also be able to work out some deal/discount if they can't give you want you want on the spot (like some $ off, or freebies of some sort). if worst comes to worst, just get the cheapest drive they offer, buy what you want aftermarket and put it in yourself. then you can yank the factory drive out, pop it in a slimline external case and have a nifty external drive for stuff you want to archive.

i talked to a sales rep today about the rotation speeds of the harddrives. he said all but the 60 come standard as 5400 rpm but if its not in stock they ship it with a 4200 rpm hard drive. so it depends on what they have in stock i guess, he also told me right now they currently are shipping them with 5400 but they might run out and have to ship with 4200.

If you purchase any of the warranties and change a part , the warranty is voided!

    <hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>

i asked about replacing the ram and the guy told me that the warranty is not void if i replace the ram. he did say that if any problems occur because of the ram i have installed, they wouldnt fix it. if say my screen messed up because it was faulty, it would still be covered. i dont know about any other parts though, i was curious because i plan on swapping the ram when my notebook comes in and i wanted to make sure it wouldnt void my warranty. if anything did happen though, i would probably just swap it back with the original ram and get it fixed under warranty.

Well that's lying and being deceitful...is it not ??? There was a huge thread that went on and on...over 30 posts at least about stealing from Dell and that we are all wrong to return/cancel a computer ordered 2 days after a new coupon comes out saving us from $50-$350 average. Look for it! My posts were absolutely in agreement of canceling or returning if only a couple of days after a new coupon comes out saving money. So was everyone with the exception of one main person and possibly 2 others.

Look for it............!!! I wouldn't do what you just said you would but I'm accused of lying that I'm even a woman and not 11 years old. Doing that ruins it for others who are honest!

i would never do that either, it's just wrong [IMG]
