Hey guys! I'm a pretty frequent forum member of quite a few other forums but i decided to make an account here to share with you my Dell N5110 which i upgraded quite a few parts on.

The laptop itself was given to me by my mother who required a more powerful one for her work. Instead of returning it, she gave it to me since i was in need. Fast forward a year or so, and i started needing my laptop for a lot of projects, programming, and school work. After building my high performance desktop, this laptop wasn't cutting it.

    Here are the base specs:
    Core i3 2310m 2.10GHz
    intel HD graphics
    2gb+4gb ram ddr3 1333MHz
    1366x768@60hz 15" screen
    640gb seagate HD
    6 cell li-ion battery
    windows 7 home edition

    Here are the upgrades:
    Core i7 2640m
nvidia GT525m mobo and heatsink (came with some 5110 laptops but not mine)
GT540m bios upgrade via thread here
    250gb samsung evo
    4+4gb corsair 1333MHz ddr3 ram
    Anker Li-ion 9-cell 7800mAh/87WH Battery
    windows 8.1
2nd hard drive caddy to replace disc drive from ebay
original seagate 640gb hard drive in 2nd hard drive caddy

Tried to basically max out this laptop with the highest performing parts i could get. Ebay really is amazing. All in all i have about $500 into this laptop and i highly doubt you could buy a new laptop today with this much performance at the same price so i'd say i came out on top.

    and it posted!!

and here is a picture of the 2nd hard drive caddy. very useful as disc drives are practically obsolete now and the SSD OS + HDD storage combo is a winning combination.

Anyways thats pretty much it! Thanks for looking
