    Hi,

My current M1330 configuration can be viewed in my signature.

I will be using the laptop for internet and office (word, excel) use, some occasional gaming, as well as abap programming, such that during a usually work-day, 7-15 windows will be open at the same time (mix of programming, firefox and misc windows.)

Does the current config look like it will be able to handle the load (will downgrade to XP, since I am not impressed Vista)?

I currently have a 2 year old Inspiron 6000, which I am replacing with the M1330.

Will I see a performance increase:
    Inspiron 6000 specs:

Intel Pentium M processor at 1.60GHZ and 1.5gb of ram
    Non-dedicated GPU

    Thanks.

As long at you have 2GB of RAM, I think you will be good to go. You might want to think about upgrading to a 7200rpm HD later on though.

    Why do you say that?

Because 7200 rpm HDs are about 15-20% faster than the 5400 rpm drives. So upgrading that, which is usually cheaper and easier than a CPU upgrade would speed up your computer.

Just one more thing - is it possible to change a certain part while the notebook is in build stage?

No. Dell will have you cancel your current order and start a new order, but that will further delay your ship date.
