I think that I have a pretty good idea from reading these forums of what to expect as far as hardware updates go, but I am not familiar with Dell's release cycles.
I have all but settled on getting a D630. My issue is that I am not in a real big hurry to purchase, so I am curious if there is an updated model on the horizon. The penryns are probably a bit longer off than I would prefer to wait, so does anyone expect to see a new 14.1 Latitude model out soon?

    Thanks in advance.

Is there something better down the pipeline? Yep...

Will there always be something better down the pipeline? Yep...

If you want the D630... Buy the D630...

Otherwise you'll end up in a perpetual waiting game that could last forever...

Bingo! There will always be a better model that comes out either as you buy something, or shortly after.

If there is something you like/want/need, buy it and don't be upset when something better comes out because that's just the way the industry works.

So I figured I would probably get that answer. I'm a frequent buyer of technical hardware, so I know how that all goes. I am just looking for a feel of the release cycle. As stated, is there a likely release before the penryn? Or will it just be along side the penryn?

    Thanks.

Get the D630 now and have Penryn, too - the D630 allows for a straight processor swap when Penryn comes out. Just make sure you have the latest BIOS version from the Dell website and you are good.
