For once, I had a (mostly) positive experience with Dell customer service, which I'll post here in the hope that it will help others.
As many of you will have seen by now, this week's Inspiron coupons are $325 off $1299, rather than the previous $300. Long story short, I logged on to chat and waited patiently (biggest advantage of chat is that it's much less annoying to be on "hold" than on the phone). When a rep came on, I very politely explained that I had ordered last weekend with a $300 coupon, and since my order wouldn't be shipping for weeks anyways, I thought it would be fair for Dell to substitute in this week's $325 off coupon for last week's $300 one (I included both coupon codes in my text).
The rep was predictably awful, but perhaps went a bit too far. He stonewalled me and wrote, "The only option that you have is you have to cancel the order and place a new order for same system." I seized upon that, feigning horror that a Dell customer service representative was flat-out suggesting that I cancel my order. I then asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor came on and almost immediately told me she would credit my account $25.
Anyways, perhaps I was just lucky, but the right combination seemed to be 1) being very polite, 2) taking advantage of a dumb statement by the rep and 3) getting transferred to the supervisor as soon as possible. Given the absurdity of the situation- Dell is making people wait weeks for their computers and offering new deals in the meantime- I felt it only fair to somehow take advantage of the better offer, and I'm glad I did. Hope this somewhat rambling message encourages others to get an additional credit as well.

your bragging about $25 ?
-
can you please tell me where the coupons are? thanks!
-
Bah, too bad I used the $250 student coupon + 4% student discount (came out to about a $5 difference between the $300 coupon), or I could have saved an extra $20
I suppose I could still try to get a $100 coupon or at least 1 day shipping like so many others have who *****ed about the delays. -

dell rep tried to pull the same s**t to me, cancel and reorder

they'll never buy me back as a customer with even 400 off my next PC purchase. Dell can shove it. (see my post on customer non-appreciation)
Asus V2S-A1 here I come! -
I see that they have a coupon that started today (the 8th) and goes until the 15th, but I was under the impression that new coupons came out on Thursday? Is that $325 coupon the "new" deal for this week?

I saw somebody else around here say that new coupons come out on Wednesdays.

It probably depends where you're at. Dell operates at CST time so maybe at 12AM Thursday morning they release their coupons. Therefore, the PST people will see the deal at 10PM. I wonder if there will be another deal such as the 2GB RAM and 160GB HD...

As someone said, $25 is $25. It didnt seem like the original poster was bragging at all. In fact, he was giving tips.
Credit for $25 for new coupons- success!
