I've done a bunch of things to try to install this card. I've taken Quicktime out, Itunes uninstalled...But I keep getting this error...

I have also done all the chipset drivers as well as BIOS.

You are trying to install the PCMCIA card, correct? just making sure we aren't installing the software only as with the newer systems.

Make sure your PCMCIA card is inserted and XP does register it as new hardware. Generally that error means that it can't detect the card.

Yep its the PCMCIA. It is inserted correctly. XP doesn't recognize the card. What can I do?

Ah...I see you have the same setup as me. BTW I wanted to double check...what kind of RAM did you put in (including the speed)?

Well I've read there should be a Red LED light coming from the headphone jack...I don't see that light on.

I went to the Hardware...Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 controller. I scanned for hardware changes and nothing happened.

Maybe there is some kind of diagnostics I can run?

Make sure you push the PCMCIA card in and you hear it click. I know mine is pretty picky about it.

Last i checked, the drivers for our card slot was not on the web, but you should be able to use the drivers listed on the E1705/9400 system. It will be located in the chipset section.

If the card slot is in there tight, XP should recognize it as new hardware as I previously stated. If it doesn't, then try updating your drivers. Hopefully one of those two things will fix it. If not, you might have to uninstall your ricoh driver, and reboot.

I'm not sure why your laptop isn't registering the soundcard. It should as long as the card slot is working properly. As far as I know, there is no diagnostics for it.

I upgraded the drivers, then pushed it all the way in...it finally recognized the hardware. However, it still does not work. I installed the Audigy drivers, downloaded and installed the very latest Audigy drivers, uninstalled the onboard SigmaTel drivers, disabled onboard sound, enabled the Audigy...still nothing.

In my BIOS, it still says it is running the SigmaTel, but the sigmatel does not work... in my device manager, the Audigy is selected as enabled, what is there still to do??

Also, in the Sounds and Audio Devices, it still says there is no audio device.

One more thing: Sounds and Audio Devices > Hardware > Creative SB Audigy 2 WDM > Properties

It says: Status - Driver is enable but has not been started.

    k, couple of things.

You need to have the sigmatel drivers installed. This is the only way you will get sound through your headphones and speakers.

When you inserted the card, did you have the software installed and running? That is one important thing about this card - you must have the software running in order for the card to work .

also, on a side note - use another pcmcia device if you have one just to check to see that your slot isn't defective and that being the core problem

Yeah...it keeps either disabling my Audigy when I reboot, or making it 'not use the hardware device'

Which would be the one under services.msc that I should start? Is it 'Smart Card' ?

I have one too and mine gives an annoying popping sound and i posted this on the Hardware forum but very few replies and no solution. Do you have any solutions SG?

To the OP: You need to have Sigmatel drivers installed, put your volume all the way to max on onboard sound, plug the audigy in, and use the headphones. The sound the audigy outputs is directly related to the volume on onboard sound. You wont listen to sound on you laptop speakers until you have downloaded and configured the Feature Mode Selection Utility. I understand your issue has been Windows doesnt detect it but one of the posts i read says you did and you did not hear any audio so that's why I'm telling you those things.

Now it says the Creative Sound Synth is missing some drivers or is corrupt...

I also ran a Sound Diagnostics...It actually played sound using 'Intel ICH6 Audio' through the speakers. However, it still says No Audio Device in the Sound Devices box.

New update. It now plays sound through Winamp, but not through Windows alerts or games, etc.

I try to put the thing to 'use features on this device' and disable the Sigmatel by putting it to 'do not use features on this device' but it keeps resetting every time.

It still says there is no sound device hardware.
