When will the cpu prices for the e1705 become not completely ridiculous. Also, is there any new news of the Merom chips?

I'd like to get a laptop with a 2ghz cpu, but for an extra $300?... and it's $200 to go to 1.83 from 1.66.

Dell's CPU prices already dropped - back during the first week of this month. I'm sure it's going to be some time before you see them drop again. Then again, with Dell --- you never know.

go look at the prices for the e1705. They went up. They used to be priced the same as the e1505's chips.

For some reason dell likes to rip people off on the 1705 and not the 1505. IDK why there is such a huge difference, they used to be reasonable. Just wait it out another week and Im sure they will go back to normal. Hopefully :(

The CPU upgrade prices on the E1705 are a ripoff. They should be much lower since Intel's price cuts. I wouldn't upgrade the CPU unless you use the Dell Coupons, at least makes them a bit more reasonable.

I agree that people shouldn't have to pay more than we did a month ago...but wtf this is capitalism and a little thing known as supply and demand...you pay for what's popular and get a discount on what isn't...Dell must be seriously overstocked/committed on the T2300. Hang in there, things are bound to change.

So bionix asked before if anyone had any new news on merom cpu's and so do I. When is the earliest we can expect to see them avalable on dell notebooks?

I would plan on sometime September/October. Early November to be the latest.

Dell will just be added the Merom's to the specs i believe, not a whole new line of laptops...
