For my old Dell inspiron I used AC power 99% of the time, yet the battery still died a few months after warranty expired. I'm going to order the m1530 soon, should I just leave the battery out and stick it in when I need to go portable?

Also, I'm considering buying RAM seperately, Dell charges way too much for the 4gig upgrade. Would this be a good choice? http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3404049&CatId=2261

The dell memory choices are all 667 mhz, this one is 800mhz. Will that affect anything? Thanks.

For the Battery Question, read the Battery guide. It has the pros and cons of leaving the battery out while plug in to a wall outlet.

The ram you are getting from Tigerdirect will not fit in a laptop.

240pin indicates desktop ram that will not fit in a laptop.

You need DDR2-667(PC2-5300/5400) 200-pin so-dimm. DDR2-800 ram should work in the M1530 but it will downclock to DDR2-667 speeds so unless its cheaper then DDR2-667 there is no reason to get it.

There is a strategy that says you should keep your battery partway charged in the freezer. Personally I leave it plugged in all the time and just replace it when it's dead, it's too much work to keep the battery separate. I like to have my battery full all the time just in case.

I always buy my RAM separately, it's much cheaper and so easy to install it's a no-brainer. 667 vs. 800mhz will make no noticeable difference at all in the real world.
