I recently installed CS at a LAN party and I am trying to get it to run in 1280x800, but can't seem to figure out how...

When I go to video settings it only provides the standard resolutions... 800x600, 1024x768, etc.

Anybody know how to get it to run in 1280x800? [?]

I don't know about that one specifically, but if the games support widescreen the option is in the video config. You may want to check their site for a patch or something to resolve this.

I'm on 1280x800 playing cs condition zero. it works fine. i think its the same for 1.6.

should just be able to go to video settings and then display mode, change it from normal to widescreen and it will put it to 1280x800.

change video modes also if you have to, d3d, opengl, etc.

Yes, in 1.6 just select mode widescreen and then you can select 1280x800. I've done this with both cs:cz and cs 1.6 so good luck.

    slightly off topic....

if you are widescren gaming, does this mean that you can see more peripheral than your enemy? :)

i noticed for my 1920x1200 i8600 America's Army plays widescreen.. its pretty cool...

but wheni play battlefield 1942, its just the 1600x1200 for me... black bars on teh side.. (i dont really mind)

    Can bf1942 be played widescreen?

Yeah, so on CS 1.5, does that mean since I don't see a widescreen option on the video mode screen that it isn't available?

Yeah 1.5 is outdated and came out before widescreen was popular, 1.6 came out before it was too, but that is the current version so it is continuously updated.
