I should be getting a $200 gift card from Dell some time soon and am planning on putting it towards a monitor. I'm willing to spend an extra $100, give or take, if the difference in quality is worth the extra cash.

After some limited research the Dell SP2208WFP and the Samsung 226BW look like a couple of good options, but seeing as I've never owned a LCD monitor and don't know much about them I am turning to you guys for your words of wisdom. I'm open to all suggestions.

Keep in mind that it has to be something I can purchase from the dell website. Thanks in advance for the help!

samsung makes a great monitor, so youre off to a good start with the 226bw. i've worked on some larger dell screens, they're not bad, but the samsung will definitely look better.

    something to consider....

this monitor has a max resolution of 1680x1050, meaning you will not be able to watch 1080p hd content. if you plan on watching blueray/hd-dvd, you'll have to go with a 1900x1200 resolution monitor.

    also, dell prices suck.

    Samsung all the way.

Dell monitors are rebadged, some of them are Samsungs, Hannsg, benq, etc.

I know, but that's too big of a price jump for me. :-/

Anyone else? Anyone have any personal experience with these?

Oh great... now you've thrown a 24 incher into the mix and made it that much more complicated for me.

How does the qualty of that compare to the 22" options? I know that the resolution is higher, but I also notice that the response time is slower. How about the things that you can't notice while reading the specs... any real world experience from someone?

The 226BW seems to be the front runner at this point. If I went with that one, how likely would I be to get it with a C panel? And if I did get the C panel, how much worse off would I be than if I had gotten the A or S panel?
