Could someone give me the cliffs, on what screen to order on the 1420 to avoid problems?

It seems the WXGA has stacks of grain issues, but the WXGA+ has lots of off colour issues and stuff.

According to here, the SEC WXGA+ are just as bad.

Basically, what is the likely hood of getting one of these screens? I'm just trying to avoid issues as i absolutely hate RMA'ing products after being so excited to get them.

There's not much you can do but cross your fingers. There's no guarantee what screen you'll get. If you truly want to avoid any possibility of getting a bad screen, don't order Dell right now.

Avoid reading this forum and you'll have no issues with your screen.

haha! awesome. i think there is a CHANCE that you could specify the manufacturer of the screen when you order over the phone. no guarantee even if you could that it will be a good LCD anyway (i have seen complaints and kudos for all screen manufacturers).

on the 1520, the LG seems to get the least complaints. i think things are different for the 1420, though.

So is this just a dell problem? It doesn't affect other manufacturers?
