Is there significant differences between a core duo t2300 1.66 GHZ 2mb Cache with an ati x1400 vs a t9300 2.5 GHZ 6mb Cache with a NVS140m, for some gaming, matlab, word, internet

Not sure about the graphics card, but those CPU's are in different leagues. For what you're going to use it for however, either may be enough.

I think there will be a significant difference between the two if you tax the systems. The X1400 and NVS140M are both essentially entry level cards, but the NVS140M should be, on average, about fifty percent faster than the X1400. Depending on your games and settings, that could be the difference between playable and not playable.

The T9300 is also significantly faster than the T2300, not just in clock speed, but in architecture and process as well. If your Matlab scripts are heavy enough the T9300 will give you an edge over the T2300.

For word and internet the two are pretty much the same: enough.

I just have the chance to upgrade my current e1505 now, but don't know if it is worth it, right now I'm down between a d630 vs t61. Since the d630 will be replaced soon and slightly worse gpu, I might go towards the thinkpad. Also, there designs never change, lol.

Why dont you just stick with the computer in your sig? ;)

But yes, for gaming you will notice a big difference.

Because I sold it to Bill. Didn't you notice he is not on the top of Forbes anymore.
