Before this week, all the Core Duos said "x GHz, 667 MHz, 2MB l2 cache" right?
2MB L2 cache means that with the 2 cpu cores, the 2MB is UNDIVIDED and both cores and allocate how much cache they want to use, meaning it's shared cache.

PROS: data on the cache can be exchanged b/w the 2 cores, the 2MB is unfixed, meaning the cores can allocate how much cache to use
CON: higher memory latency, meaning slower memory interface (it's what Intel calls "Smart Cache")

Now, you notice that Dell offers Core Duos w/" 2x1MB L2 Cache" Does it mean that the cache is now split into 2 like Turion X2? Are they any different than the Core Duo I got w/ 2MB L2 cache? It still says T2500.

I would think its 1 MB per core, but it could also be a marketing ploy by Dell to get the buyer to think that. Try calling them up and ask.

All Core Duo(and Core 2) have unified cache. The 2X1MB is probably an error/ typo.
