I received my XPS 1210 w/ T5600 several days ago.

I've been monitoring my CPU temperature and the average is around 53C. (No gaming, just web surfing). Is this too high or normal?

I know the safe temperature of Yonah is 100C .

Does anyone know the safe temperature of Merom?

That seems pretty normal. Dells have rather conservative fan settings. On my E1705 for instance, both fans are normally off. The CPU temperature rises gradually until it hits around 55, then both fans kick on and bring it down to 39.

If the temperature bothers you, you can use I8kfangui to override the fan settings in the bios and achieve the balance of cooling/fan noise you want.

Try to undervolt it using RMclock , I got 15% decrease of temperatures .

Also use I8kfangui like the above post suggested , the CPU fan should be very quite on low .
