I just put a GeForce 5200 64mb in my laptop and I'm getting temps of ~75C+ while in full load.
What are some good ways to cool this thing... or is 75c fine as long as I don't see any crashes/freezes?
Thanks

From what I understand, 75 should be fine during demanding conditions. I use I8kFanGUI to control my fans. I recommend it to everyone with a Dell notebook. It's free and completey user-configurable. You can set up 4 different profiles. During light load use, I have the fans kick on at CPU 60*, and GPU 65* (ATI 9700 M), -temps that neither one ever reach in light load, and I'll bet I get an extra 12-15 minutes out of my battery.

If your not getting anyc crashes or instability problems, then I wouldn't worry abut the temperature. However, it may still be a good idea to clean the notebook, making sure all the vents and the heatsink inside the notebook are free of any dust and contaminents.

3 things.
1-clean the inside of the laptop. mostly around the heat sink for the cpu.
I remove the front panel and keyboard once every 3 months and use a vacuum with a fine tip and a makeup style powder brush to brush it out and use the vacuum tip over the laptop but I don't shove it in for fear of damage.
2-get either a notebook cooler or a regular case fan and seat it on the side where the vent is and have air flowing in there.
3-elevate the laptop a bit. if the vent is under you can help it by using some foam, I glued neoprene pieces to get the thickness, and used those to rais it above the rubber feet it has. Summer puts strain on laptops. -
TY.
Heh, the caked dust on the CPU heatsink dropped me 20 degrees. I guess it needs some opening up after 3 years
