I have a E1505 on the way and I plan on using it on my lap mostly and then setting it beside my chair. Say I'm using the laptop with the power cord connected to it then decide to shut it down, can I then uplug the cord from the laptop? I guess what I'm asking is if I can plug in and unplug the power cord connecting at the laptop (of course laptop is always shut down) without having first to unplug at the wall?

I guess I can trying leaving the power cord attached when I'm moving it around but wasn't sure if the plug connection at the laptop was strong enough to keep the connection.

You can unplug the power connection at the laptop-end any time that you like. You don't even need to shut down the machine.

I almost never unplug my power adapter from the wall. I just plug and unplug at the laptop-end.

Ditto what robbirzell says. As long as your battery is installed and still charged, you can unplug or plug back in anytime.
