    Connecting Laptop to HDMI,works fine,but no DVD sound

    Ok.
    So i can successfuly connect my laptop to the hdmi cable and hdtv and get it to work. theres perfect picture and perfect sound. at first there was no sound, but i just had to change a sound setting on my laptop to play hdmi sound, or whatever.
    BUT,
    when i play a dvd, all i get is this sparatic/stuttering static sound.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I had the same problem, so I plugged in some other speakers direct into the laptop, but I am still looking for a solution.

    I changed the frequency output via HDMI, and at 90 my TV a Panasonic 42px50u picked up the DVD audio. I disabled other frequencies.

    In order for audio to work on the HDMI connection, you need to change the audio to 24-bit 48k (like what is used in S/PDIF) rather than the 16-bit 44.1k (like what is used in most audio soundcards and also on CD audio). Configure it in the control panel.
