I just got my tv-out adapter to connect my laptop to my HDTV.

everything went well, exept for the fact that i am noticing random lines when there are lots of action going on in the movie. these lines appear horizontally across the tv screen, and seems to start from the top to middle area of the tv screen, and progressively move down towards the bottom of the tv screen.

I connected my old e1705 to to hdtv with a dvi to hdmi cable, and i noticed none of these lines, so i know my tv isnt the problem.

    whats going on?

Try connecting your current laptop to another HDTV if you get the opportunity just to make sure. If the same problem occurs... it might be a problem with the video card or maybe the connector itself.

Forte, its called "twitter". its when horizontal liens appear on 1080i TVs, not 1080p.

my problem is that my tv is 1080p, but it is displaying a 1080i picture. how do i make it 1080p? or atleast stop the twitter?

Unless your TV has a VGA port, it is impossible to get a picture on your TV. I tried a VGA to HDMI cable to no avail.

Dell has an adapter ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Cables/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=310-9336) which you use to send your laptop screen to your HDTV. I'm not sure if it will connect to a regular TV though.
