So I recently started watching Planet Earth in High Definition on my Inspiron 1520's screen.

It looks VERY pretty at 720p (the max I can get with my screen) but I'm curious to see what it looks like at 1080.

Since my screen won't show 1080p at full resolution and Dell's don't have an HDMI port, I was wondering if there was some way to connect this thing to a display and get true HD output. PCMCIA card? USB device? Upgrade?

As a small side question, what kind of resolution would I get through the VGA port connect to an LCD TV?

I was running 1680 x1050 native to an external monitor with my older Inspiron 630m. I'm sure if your display supports >= 1080p resolution, i dont see why the Dsub15 wont run.

However it goes without saying that if you have a full digital signal to the display, it will look cleaner.

I am running HDMI -> DVI on my XPS.
