Ordered an XPS 17 on 12/7/2010.
Order originally had an expected delivery date of 12/23/2010.

This morning I received a vague email saying my order will be delayed. It says I will receive a second email with more details on the delay and a new expected delivery date.

I go to check the status on the Dell site and it shows a delivery date of 12/21/2010. It appears my expected delivery date has changed and I am to receive my order earlier than stated. But I received the email this morning notifiying me of a delay so I'm not sure which to believe.

I call order support and the rep assures me that my order is arriving on 12/21/2010 and to ignore the email. This seems somewhat suspicious and I'm not sure which to believe.

I also used the free ground 5-7 day shipping option when I created the order. For my order to even arrive on 12/21/2010 it would have had to have shipped already, however it's status currently shows "In production"

    Has anyone ever experienced this?

I am going through the same thing, sort of. I ordered on 12/4, expected delivery date 12/20.

I couldn't check the order status on line for a few days, the site would just hang and time-out. So I called order support (India, no doubt), and was told it's on schedule for delivery 12/20.

The next day, I received an email stating that per my request, my order was cancelled. HUH???? I called order support again, and was assured the order is not cancelled and is on schedule for 12/20 delivery.

Yesterday, I got the same vague email that it will be delayed - with no explanation why or alternative ship date. My oder was supposed to be received on Monday, it's still showing in Production with a delivery date of 12/20.

This has to be THE worst company in existence. We all need to boycott DELL - the horror stories abound, and some are so far fetched, they are funny! Talk about people not knowing what they are doing! However, I feel they couldn't possibly be that stupid. I feel much of this is done deliberately.

    Hey,

I guess I am in a similar boat. I ordered an XPS15 on December 8, and the delivery date is slated at December 23/2010. The order status page presently lists my order as "In Production". I have not received an email from Dell other than the standard "Order Confirmed" email.

Since everything is calculated amongst business days, I see it highly unlikely for my laptop to be delivered near the end of next week. Even if they ship them Monday it is not possible, to my knowledge, to ground ship a laptop from Texas to Toronto, and from the Puralator distribution centre to my door by Thursday (unless that's possible in four business days).

I ordered a Dell 1018R on 12/13/2010 and it stated a delivery date of 12/23/10. I looked at the status on 12/17/2010 and it still showed in production. Later that day I received a package from FED EX and low and behold my netbook arrived. After 10 min of me checking the computer over only then I got the email that my order has shipped. There system seems slow to update the status so don't give up yet.

That gives me hope, thank you :D!

I hope the same can be said for Canada- bound Dell computers. I really hope Puralator is matching FedEx in terms of package delivery time.

By the way, in your post, did you mean that they notified your computer was 'shipped' or 'delivered'?
