I'm thinking of getting a Dell Latitude X1 since I'd like to have the lightest laptop possible for taking to classes. I've been using a 14" DV1000, and while this is certainly portable enough, I'm thinking my back would be thanking me if I had something that weighed half as much.
Anyway, the Latitude X1 seems to be a perfect fit, but I have a couple of questions for current owners that I couldn't get a sure-fire answer for despite searching the forums:
1) How much battery life could I expect on average from the 3-cell with minimal use (e.g. typing in Word with WIFI on/off)?
2) Since the unit has no fan (which is technically a plus since it cuts back on noise), has heat ever been an issue? In MD the temperatures are in the 90's for much of the summer, and I hope the laptop can take those temperatures without having overheating issues. I only ask this because somebody mentioned the unit throttled itself after playing Counterstrike for more than 20 minutes; I don't plan to play games, but I'm not looking forward to a laptop that needs to throttle itself for any reason...
Thanks.

look at Panasoninc Toughtbook, they usualy weight aobut 3 pounds 1.5 kg but are not that powerful. they also have i think a 12.1 inch screen which would do for school, maybe not??? take a look they are faily expensive though.

Yeah I looked at the Toughbooks but they are basically twice as expensive as the Dell X1 (and even more than the Lenovos), so unfortunately they are out of my price range.
