I ordered a Dell Vostro 1700 On the 13th of February and it has been in pre-production since this date, the spec is as follows:
V1700 CORE 2 DUO T7500 2.20GHz,800,4M
3072 MB 667 MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (1x1024 MB + 1x2048)
256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
and pretty much all the basics other than that.
I am becoming increasingly concerned that it is not going past the pre-production stage as it has been 12 days already, and the estimated delivery date is the 03/03/08. This is rather close now and still no progress.
there was an initial problem with the online delivery i placed on the 5th which after 8 days told me had been cancelled for no apparent reason. I ordered again after speaking to a gentleman on the phone. The reason for purchasing is that my previous laptop broke down and died, something i had foreseen for a short period but thought it would be able to hold out another few months, aparently not. And so this new laptop although not urgent is important to me, as the alternative i am using is at least 5 years old now.
I fear i will not receive the laptop by the delivery date unless something happens fast, and the prospect of waiting even longer is rather unpleasant.
does anybody have any advice or tips about pre-production, it's length or why my laptop could be taking so long? and if anybody beleives i will actualy receive the laptop in time for next monday?
any help appritiated.

You will get free next day shipping at a minimum. If it's still in pre-production that looks like a billing issue.
