I'm willing to bet a lot of those accessories can be had for less from somewhere else (newegg).
-
Is there anything you didn't pickup from the dell site?
We're getting the "do you think i got a good deal" questions a couple of times a day. Maybe we need a single thread just for that...
To answer your question, I don't know. Maybe it is maybe it isn't. There's always going to be a better deal somewhere somehow.
If you like your config and price then buy it and be happy. -
Skip the SSD unless you really really want it. Too expensive and not enough benefit unless you are looking for specific features.
4GB RAM...Dell charges too much. Check out NewEgg and the RAM Deals thread to save a LOT on that upgrade.
Processor...you could go down one or two notches and still have a kick butt PC.
No Dell is worth $4000...no Dell. -
Thats overkill for the m1530...you can get a much better performance laptop with that kind of price. Don't get accesories from dell unless you really have that much money to spare.

Alienware = Dell since 2006.
Drop the T9500 down to a T9300. The difference in clock speed will make 1% difference at max.
Drop McAfee for your anti-virus. It is a system hog and cannot delete a virus 99% of the time. Look for Eset Smart Security(NOD32 + Firewall + everything) or Kasperky Internet Security 7 or 8.
Do you really need Vista Ultimate? -
With that kind of money, go for the Alienware m1X.
As a user of Vista Ultimate, I can say that it adds absolute nothing to the experience, so you could safely downgrade to Home Premium.
Chances are you don't need SSD, save yourself $700 and go with the 320GB harddrive or the 200GB 7200RPM . You'll use up 64GB within months, and will start to regret getting such little hard-drive space.
Drop McAfee, terrible AV, buy something like Kaspersky with the money you save.
Downgrade processor to t9300, it's a 1GHZ different, completely meaningless
Those suggestions just saved you $1000+ -
100 Mhz, not Ghz. That would be a notable difference.
The only cool thing about Ultimate is that extra backup feature it has. -
Anyways, I would personally buy a decked out Asus with $4k. -
If you're going to connect to a domain then you need Vista Business or Ultimate.
-
100 Mhz isn't going to make much difference at all. -
-
On the interwebz of course... Including this and other technology websites such as [H], Guru3D, and Anandtech.
Are you saying it would net a noticeable difference? -
$4000 is a waste of money on a m1530.. Look at mine, its almost 1/4 of the price as yours and i would say that mine will probably perform about 95% as good as yours if you take out your SSD.. Check out what I have in my m1530 in my sig and it shipped for $1283.47 brand new...
I say you take the processor down to the T9300, change the memory down to 2GB, and buy a 4GB off newegg for $60, then get rid of the SSD and get a 250 or 320.. Then take off all the accessories, I dont know what you have but 320GB is helluva amount of storage and I seriously dont think you will fill that up anytime soon.. So the 500GB isn't really useful.. The XPS comes with a NICE sleeve, and I see that you got a backpack but i didn't get any accesories.. Now you can get 3years of warranty and accidental, but I didn't get any because I know i won't drop it, I own a HP notebook for 3 years now and I haven't dropped it once.. So I didn't get any extended warranty, I just have the 1 year that it came wig, which to me is way more than enough..
I mean if you are rich then great, get what you want.. Like he said, there will always be a better deal..
Andif you dont mind waiting, wait for those quad-core laptops that I dont know when they will cone out but they would be expensive lol.. -
i think he is joking with us.
-
Just let this thread die. He's just showing off.

@ Lefix
Ram doesn't have a front side bus speed. -
-
For $4000, build yourself a kick-ass gaming rig AND buy a quality laptop (Thinkpad comes to mind) that is usable as a laptop (good battery life, portable, etc).
Just my $0.02 -
For that price go with a xps 1730XD
-
I think the xps m1530 us better than a thinkpad..
He can just be like me, spec it out like mine and have it shipped less than $1300 -
Thinkpads have their look. Their design is not really anything revolution. Dell however seems to be ahead of the game with professional designs. HP has their designs, though I dont think is as professional as Dell.

Completely decked out XPS1530...good price?
