My laptop is screwed, dell's repaired it a bunch of times. How much damage has to be done to just get a new one?

They sent a tech to repair mine three or four times and then offered a replacement. So I'd say three, then ask them.

It usually takes 3 to 4 service calls for the same issue requiring major part replacements like cpu, motherboard etc to be offered a replacement. Even then dell might not offer a replacement.

if you have more problems, make sure to tell the person on support that you are fed up with having to deal with all the hassles the computer has called and that you just want a computer that actually works and usually they will see that you have had at least 3 service calls and offer you a replacement. At least that's how it was for me.
