Is there any reason not to get this?
Even if I never actually need it, shouldn't I just throw my laptop down a flight of stairs a couple of days before it expires to get a brand new computer?

Are you referring to a 3-year warranty? It really depends on your level of technical knowledge and how well you care for your electronics.
-
I have it for the piece of mind. If anything happens (besides it being thrown in the pool) it will be covered. There really isn't any reason not to get it.
-
Yes I am.
I take extremely good care of my electronics, but some things I have little control over such as other people and power surges.
Also why couldn't I intentionally break my laptop before the warranty expires to get brand new components? -
I've dropped a laptop in the past. Twice. My boss was not happy with me at all >_<
I have it because I know that with me there's a risk. I've already dropped my 1720 once so far, but he was in his bag so no damage *WHEW*! -
If you intentionally destroy your laptop with the intent to get Dell to replace it with a new one that's insurance fraud. Where I live that's a criminal act.

The OP sounds like he's out to scam dell :/
I'm a little surprised to be honest that people haven't scammed Dell to the point where they stop offering complete care. -
Maybe they have ways of telling it was deliberate?

Dell doesn't offer Complete Care to be nice. The reason they do offer it is to make money (which I have no problem with, but that's the way it is).
The fact that they offer it despite the amount of people that intentionally drop their laptop means that they're making mucmore money from Complete Care than they are losing over it.
