I'm looking to sell my vaio CS series and purchase a mini 9 with XP and the 10" screen. I'm curious to hear from owners of any common problems with this model. For example, a problem with my laptop model is faulty fans that buzz and creak, which was rather annoying.

Are there any faults with this model, honestly? I'm comparing several netbooks and trying to make a decision. Thanks.

Have you seen the HP Mini 2140 (not to be confused the HP Mini 1000)? According to most reviews I've read, it's the new 'benchmark' among netbooks. LAPTOP Magazine gave it high praise and awarded their Editor's Choice Award- HP Mini 2140. $449 gets you the 3-cell XP Home version with 1GB RAM, or $479 upgrades to the 6-cell battery. One of my favorite features is the standard 160GB Hard Drive- huge by netbook standards and, unlike the hard drives on competing models, it is a normal 5400rpm drive....not an anemic 4200rpm version.

OMG! why does this 2140 cost only 50 bucks more but has SO much more? I love the fact that it has wireless-N!! Does anyone know what wifi card this has?

but really, why does this only cost 50 bucks more than the mini and have so many morefeatures? this REALLY got my interest...

I received my I9 in December. Honestly, I haven't had any problems at all with mine. It works for what it's purpose is for...Portability, internet usage, minor multi-tasking! :D

It's a lovely netbook! :D If you wanted to have use of a DVD drive, you just need to purchase a external one, and now-a-days ~ you can get those for a nominal cost. It's easy to add extra ram if you wanted, and you can use Ubuntu, or XP. Or, dual boot..like some have.

The keyboards placement of keys, is a bit querky. But, once you get used to typing on it..It works out just fine! :D

Mine has XP. I used XP on my desktop computer...So that was an easy adaption for me! :D

I say go for the purchase! If you don't like it, you have 21 days to return from date of invoice, for new replacement or refund. The pricing has also came down on the I9, and you can get some good deals at the outlet :D

    Hope that helps!

    Cin ;) :)

HOLY CRAP! This 2140 has an express slot, 5ghz wireless-n, gigabit lan, and card reader for this price!!? This doesnt make sense. As soon as my sony is sold I'm buying this.

Does anyone know of any issues with this model? How common are dead pixels in these business model netbooks? thanks.

Yes, the invoice date is right before it's shipped to you.

They say they can charge you a 15% restocking fee. But, from feedback from other peeps on the forum, as such....This rarely happens. :D

I haven't had any issues with either mini9 i've played with, i even run morrowind on it for mobile gaming :D

The keyboard is a bit weird, but i'm getting used to it and it isn't bad, just weird.

I suspect that the HP doesn't get the battery life of the mini9. I get between four and five hours off this thing :D

If I was looking at a netbook as a notebook replacement (and not just as a mobile browser), then I would have gone for the Samsung NC10. Similar features as the HP, longer battery life, and highly regarded for about the same price.

If your looking at other than the I9, and don't want something *right now*. You, may want to wait for the Mini 10 to be released. :D
I think it's gonna be really nice.
