I've been playing with differently configurated sytems, and different coupons as well. Please note: I'm not a gamer, so unless there's a specific reason why the 8400M GS WON'T work, please don't suggest I upgrade the GPU for better gaming performance. For my applications, it should work fine. Here's my most recent config:

    SYSTEM COLOR: Alpine White
    PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM: Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium Edition
DISPLAY: Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
    VIDEO CARD: 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8400M GS
MEMORY: 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
HARD DRIVE: Size: 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
OPTICAL DRIVE: CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive)
    WIRELESS NETWORKING: Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-Card
INTEGRATED WEBCAM: Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
BATTERY OPTIONS: 85Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell)
SOUND OPTIONS: High Definition Audio 2.0

    Base Price: $2,235 - ($313 Instant Savings) - ($200 Student Discount) - (7% PC-Care Discount, $120.54) - (12% Protection Plan Discount, $192.18)

    Final Price: $1,409.28

    Whatdaya think?

not bad at all! if you ARE looking for a performance upgrade try a 7200rpm hdd. other than that I see no other thing to upgrade (-the video card for me).

Only 5400 RPM HD are available to me. To date, I haven't seen a 7200RPM HD available on the 1720.

It looks great to me as well. All the specs are the same as I would make them if I was ordering besides the GPU.
