You mean, swap the actual lid? It can be done, but it's pretty tricky; it involves removing the display assembly from the notebook, and disassembling it, separating the actual display panel from the lid. And this all assumes that you can even find the lid on its own, which is unlikely given how new this model is. Out of curiosity, why didn't you just order the Promise Pink lid option?

You could always get one of those adhesive covers and apply that to the laptop. Also means that in 6 months time when she changes her mind, you can change it to something else :)

These are the types of things I'm talking about:

Sure they are not as nice as having the lid a certain colour already, and you will probably have to shop about a bit to find one that will fit and/or trim one down to fit; but it's probably the easiest way of achieving what you are after in a cost effective manner.

Fragilexx makes a good point; stick-on skins are the most economical way of turning her laptop lid pink, but the Dell logo in the center of the machine will be slightly challenging to work around if you don't want it completely covered. And even if you cover it, it will show through the sticker, since it is embedded slightly into the lid surface and is not totally flush.

So, if you want a real quality, natural-looking pink lid, then you buy the actual lid and do the replacement yourself. If you want a budget-oriented solution that doesn't look as nice but takes all of 2 minutes to apply or remove, get a skin.
