Not sure if this is the right forum, but I thought I'd drop this hear considering I have a Dell e1405. It has two color lines running vertically through the screen--one green, one red. The green one appeared about a month ago and comes and goes; the red one just recently appeared. Both disappear if I squeeze the screen, but reappear when I stop. I'm assuming the screen is close to death--but what exactly is going on? I only do word processing and internet, for the most part, so I can accept even a few more lines for at least awhile, but if it gets out of hand I'm going to have to buy a new computer (I was planning to next summer). Explanation?

do you see the problem when booting to windows or while in BIOS? if yes, then there is a problem with the LCD/Video Adapter. You can try an external monitor just to make sure if it is LCD.

Most likely a problem with the LCD since it is affected by movement. Just seek help from technical support, I'm sure they can help you fix the problem.

yup just call tech support but if you can troubleshoot the system before calling, they will be able to replace LCD faster than troubleshooting over the phone, that is if your system has an active warranty

    Hello,

This is Richard from the Dell Online Community Outreach group. The "Dell Vertical Line" reference does not apply to Inspiron E1405 systems. Regardless of that if the system is still under warranty we can replace the display. You can call 1-800-822-8965 for our technical support or PM me if you like.

    Regards,

    Richard B
