...or after the screen shuts off automatically. The only way to get the adjustments back is to open the Nvidia control panel and slide one of the sliders slightly. This happens every single time, and with both drivers (ending in 5663 and 5669).
Any ideas? I've searched and get lots of stuff, but not what i'm looking for.

No one else is experiencing this? I have 2 identical M1530's sitting here that are both doing it.
-
I believe my 1420 is doing that too after sleeping...
I would like to know a solution as well. -
check this out: http://neosmart.net/blog/2007/windows-vistas-gamma-table-bug/
I think it is a Vista issue. It is not fixed in SP1 either. But this site said that MS is going to fix it as a hotfix after SP1...let's hope so:

Great find, thanks for sharing that link. It figures that it's an issue with Vista.
I'm pretty surprised that with the number of people on this forum who are constantly suggesting Nvidia control panel adjustments of the color/gamma etc.., that only 2 people have posted in this thread. Maybe people just aren't noticing it?
Thanks again.. -
It is pretty subtle that you don't notice it until people tell you. I hope Vista will be patched soon.

no changes after SP1 update...

I too have this problem. To update my display, I have to go into Nvidia control panel and just click one of the sliders. The settings get lost after a restart, sleep, or even a simple screen turnoff after 15mins.
-
Yep, same as yours. If I have dual screen - an external monitor and the laptop screen, I think the external monitor gets all the settings of the laptop screen. It doesn't happen every time though...
-
Has anyone heard anything more about this regarding a solution? I am having this issue too! Extremely annoying! Thanks!

I had this problem until I updated to the latest 1720 Nvidia drivers.
Im not sure how you can claim this is a Vista problem when you made the changes in the NVidia control panel. If you make a shortcut for the following or just cut and past it in to your run box after hibernate then maybe that will clue you in to what is the real problem:
RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
Sorry if this is kinda short but I read a lot of "Is it a vista problem" on here and I am amazed at what people blame on the OS. -
I just downloaded the latest NVidia driver for 8400M GS. It might have fixed it. So far, after coming back from sleep and coming out of screen off, the color remains. I will monitor for 1 or 2 more days to determine if it is fixed.
The reason people said it is the OS is because Microsoft said that based on the forum I read. -
after upgrading my 1420 to the latest NVidia driver, color adjustment stays finally for the first time after sleep or out of screen shut off. Hooray!
Color adjustments not sticking after sleep...
