I'm a college student planning to take my laptop on campus a lot next semester. Here's what I have configured right now:

    Inspiron 1420
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
    Vista Home Premium
Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 14.1 inch display (1280x800)
    128MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8400M GS
    2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
    80GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
    Intel® 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card
    Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)
    Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
85Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell)
1 Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor - Next Business Day

    $1,447.00
    - $350 Dell Home Coupon
    = $1,097.00

Is this a good deal? Any changes I should make before I pull the trigger?

That's cheaper than you'd get it through the DellU website, so unless anyone sees anything you should add (I don't), it looks ready to go.

Yeah, even though I'm a student, I decided Dell Home ends up being cheaper.

That really is the secret with Dell - you need to know what specs you want and then try it in a bunch of different places. You can end up with a three-digit difference, and you ended up on the right end of it.

    Enjoy.
