Like many others, I'll ne off to college in the fall - which of course means that I need a laptop. I've pretty much decided on Dell, simply because I don't feel like dealing with the hassle of getting an Asus, HP doesn't have anything other than the dv5000t that interests me, and that is inferior to the e1505, and the other brands just don't have anything that I want that falls in my price range. So, it's time for a few questions:

Am I making a mistake by ruling out Asus?

Which Dell should I get? I'm pretty much stuck between the e1505 and the Latitude D820. I like the e1505 b/c it has a glossy LCD, MediaDirect, and is cheaper than just about anything else I can find. What I don't like about the e1505 is the reliability question associated with Dell Home (my family has had 2 bad experiences with them in the past). As for the D820, I like the fact that it comes with a 3 year warranty, and the improved build quality of Dell SB, and Hard Drive Protection, which means it can take a little more of a beating in my bookbag. The drawbacks to the D820 are the matte LCD and the higher price tag. Right now, the prices don't matter that much between the e1505 and the D820 b/c I'm not going to buy until July, and the prices will definitely change between now and then (especially when the price of the Core Duo drops). My price range for this computer is $1,500-$2,000 - whatever system I get I plan on upgrading to 2GB RAM from newegg, which will same me some money.

Oh, what is a boy to do?
