    Hi folks,

Yesterday I just closed my xps1210 and put it into the sleeve and into the backpack. Guess what it didnt go to stand-by. There was some error (memory access error  wonder why that would appear?)
After an hour, the laptop was Boiling!! The fan was blowing loud and it was really scary... I just shut down the laptop, waited for it to cool down and then it was fine...
But it was really scary how hot it was, I advice everyone to put the computer to stand-by yourselves than assuming it'll be done...

So it hit a BSOD and you left it on after that?

I use the standby setting only for short departures like grabbing a sandwich, switching trains, etc. If I'm putting it away into the backpack, I use Hibernate. Saves battery as well.

I always use hibernate if I'm putting it in my back pack and sit and wait for it to power down before I drop it in there. Both to keep such said things from happening and to save battery for the next class or homework in the library.

Yeah, once in a while my E1705 doesnt go into standby. However, 9 times out of 10 its some program I am running that is preventing it from going into standby, but sometimes I can't figure out why. Next time check to make sure you are not running something that could stop it from going into standby (I know gaim sometimes does that for me, but not all the time, its weird).
